Volunteer Opportunities

Volunteer Opportunities At St. Edmond Catholic School

St. Edmond Catholic School exists, in part, because of our wonderful family volunteers.  Our parents are very involved and help to make our school such a great place.  By volunteering, parents find, that it is a good way to get to know other families in the system.  There are many things happening here.  We would like to list some of the many ways that you could be involved or help out at St. Edmond if you so choose:

Music Boosters:  All parents are automatically in the booster club.  This club meets on the 2nd Monday of each month.  There are various events that you can sign up for and help with.  Ask the Music Booster president how you can help.  Events usually include: helping with receptions, chaperoning events both in town and out of town, videotaping music events, drivers and helping out at different music functions

Athletic Boosters:  Athletic Boosters meet on the 1st Wednesday of each month.  If you decide to join the athletic booster club it is usually a 3-year commitment.  This club helps in the concession stand, and at their special fundraisers throughout the year. If you are interested in joining, please contact the middle/high school office and they will give you the name of the chairs for this organization.

Parent/Teacher Connection:  The PTC is an organization that serves the preschool through grade 5 students and teachers of St. Edmond.  Committees seek volunteers to help with a wide range of activites including playground duty, book fairs, Box Tops for Education collection, room parents and fundraisers.   The opportunites for being involved are endless and children love to see their parents and grandparents helping out at school!   Please call one of the co-presidents to find out what you can help out with. You may call the administrative office at 515-576-5182 for further information.

There are various other areas within several classrooms to volunteer your time.  Contact the administrative office or find out from your child's teacher to find out how you can help. All volunteers that will be working with children are required to take Virtus training.  This is a 3 hour mandatory course required by the Sioux City Diocese to be able to help out in the school.

St. Edmond “Friends of St. Edmond Ball” – This is the major event and fundraiser for our school system.  The event takes place the first Saturday in May.  We are always in need of someone to serve on a committee.  A lot of fun too!

Quality Work Teams (QWT):  These committees lay the groundwork for the future of our system to ensure the best education and environment for our children.  These committees include the following:

            Academics and Technology
            Building and Grounds/Safety
            Enrollment Management
            Policy Manual Review
            Spiritual Live
            Student Life/Services

Hospitality Committee:  This group meets on the second Monday of the month.  They are responsible for helping the Marketing Department with their various functions including; Parent Ambassadors for our new families, Homecoming Tailgate, Back to School Bash in the fall and any other functions developed by the committee.

Become a Mentor:  This group is one of our newest ways to get involved and is for any person who would like to make a difference in a young persons life.  The mentor will provide consistent support, guidance and concrete help to a student who is in need of a positive role model.  The goal of student mentoring is to help students involved in the mentoring program gain the skills and confidence to be responsible for their own futures. * Please click on the link below to obtain further information on this program.

All of these different groups are wonderful ways to get involved and get to know other parents at St. Edmond.  Each group would love to have you be a part of their committee.  If you have any additional questions, please be sure to give me a call at 955-6077 and I will gladly get you in contact with the head of that committee.
