2019 Senior Plans

The St. Edmond Catholic High School class of 2019 has many talented and high achieving students. The class was recently surveyed about their future plans. Most of the seniors will be college bound next year and one student will be joining the Iowa Air National Guard. Many of them are planning to participate in sports, arts and campus student activities at their campuses.

Iowa Central Community College (ICCC) will be the campus choice for 21 students (50%) of the graduating class. Many of them will be majoring in business, health care, and education.

Ten students will be attending state universities with Iowa State gaining seven Cyclones, and the University of Iowa with three Hawkeyes. Six students have chosen to stay in state as well, choosing Drake, WIT, Buena Vista, Loras, PCI and DMACC. Out of state universities include: Minnesota West and Creighton.

Twelve students plan to receive two year degrees and twenty eight students are planning to obtain a bachelor’s degree. Interests vary greatly among these seniors. Most seniors have selected an area of interest including: the medical field, business, engineering, physical therapy, psychology, early education, science technology, industrial technology, diesel technology, welding and criminal justice.

Athletically this class will continue their athletic careers at college participating in basketball, Cross Country and track.  Many of the seniors will continue their fine art skills by participating in drama and the arts at the college of their choice.

Nine students will be awarded a service cord for giving more than forty hours of service to their school, church and community during each of their high school years. Twenty-seven seniors enrolled in college classes and 11 of them earned over twenty credits.

Ninety three percent of the class has accepted over half a million dollars in scholarship money.
